Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated October 1, 2026

In short

  • Use Macaron to build software, on code and systems you're allowed to change.
  • Nothing illegal or harmful, no attacks on others, and no abuse of our Computers such as crypto mining.
  • Follow your model providers' usage policies. What your agents do counts as what you do.
  • Good-faith security research on Macaron is welcome if you tell us first.

1.Who this applies to

This policy applies to everyone who uses Macaron, and to everything done through your Account, including by agents you run, scripts in your repositories and services you connect. It's part of the Terms of Service. What your agents do counts as what you do.

2.Illegal and harmful activity

  • Anything illegal where you are, where we are, or where it has effect, or helping others do it.
  • Infringing or misappropriating copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, patents or other rights, including committing code you have no right to use.
  • Violating privacy or data protection law, including collecting, scraping or processing personal data without a lawful basis.
  • Content or activity that sexually exploits or endangers children. We report child sexual abuse material to the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) as the law requires.
  • Harassment, threats, hate speech that incites violence, or content that promotes terrorism or violent extremism.
  • Fraud, phishing, scams, impersonation, or deceptive practices, including fake reviews and misleading AI-generated content passed off as human where that deceives people.

3.Security and other people's systems

  • Accessing, probing, scanning or testing systems, networks, accounts or data without the owner's permission.
  • Creating, distributing or running malware, ransomware, spyware, botnets or exploit kits against others.
  • Denial-of-service attacks, flooding, or any activity that degrades other people's services.
  • Intercepting traffic, harvesting credentials, or evading authentication, encryption or access controls.
  • Sending spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or running open proxies, relays or VPN exit nodes for others.

4.Our infrastructure

  • Mining cryptocurrency, running proof-of-work or proof-of-space computations, or similar resource-heavy work unrelated to building software.
  • Using hosted Computers to host public websites, file sharing, streaming or services for third parties, beyond temporary previews of your own work.
  • Getting around usage limits, credit, billing or quotas, including by opening multiple accounts or sharing accounts.
  • Interfering with, overloading or disrupting the Services, or trying to break out of a Computer's isolation or reach other customers' data.
  • Reselling, renting, sublicensing or sharing access to the Services without our written agreement.

5.AI-specific rules

  • Follow the usage policies of the model providers you use through Macaron, such as Anthropic's and OpenAI's.
  • Don't use agents to develop weapons, including chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons, or to plan violence.
  • Don't use agents to build surveillance tools that track people without their consent, or systems that make unlawful decisions about people's access to jobs, credit, housing, insurance, education or public services.
  • Don't try to extract our models' or providers' system prompts, weights or protected data, or use Output to train a model that competes with a provider in breach of its terms.
  • Disclose AI involvement where the law requires it, such as AI-generated content shown to the public under the EU AI Act.

6.Sanctions and export

Don't use the Services in, or provide them to people in, embargoed countries or regions, or to restricted parties, or for prohibited end uses, as described in the Terms of Service.

7.Security research

We welcome good-faith security research on Macaron itself. Email [email protected] before you start, test only against your own account and data, don't access or change other people's data, don't degrade the Services, and give us reasonable time to fix what you find before disclosing it. If you follow these rules, we won't pursue legal action against you for that research.

8.Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations and, depending on how serious they are, warn you, stop a run or Computer, remove content, revoke keys, restrict features, or suspend or close your Account. We'll tell you why, unless the law or someone's safety prevents it, and give you a chance to respond where reasonable.

We may report illegal activity to law enforcement and cooperate with lawful investigations. Accounts closed for serious or repeated violations aren't eligible for refunds except where the law requires.

9.Reporting abuse

Report suspected abuse to [email protected] with as much detail as you can, such as the URL, time, and what happened. For copyright complaints, use the Copyright & DMCA Policy. Users and authorities in the European Union can also use this address as our point of contact under the Digital Services Act.
